Grays Harbor Public Utility District is seeking a full-time Operations Director to oversee Line, Operations, Contract Construction, System Dispatch, Safety and Environmental, and Fleet Departments. Duties and tasks include performance management and setting strategic direction for supervisors and superintendents, employee hiring and development, work planning, collaborative problem solving and coordination with other departments, managing change, and budgeting, all in support of the safe, reliable delivery of high value utility services by professionally constructing, operating and maintaining the District’s systems.

Required qualifications include ten (10) years of directly related electric utility experience, including five (5) years in a leadership/supervisory capacity; or other closely related experience.  Preferred qualifications include Journey-level certification; Bachelor’s degree in construction science or engineering or related field, or equivalent education and/or experience; experience supervising union employees and interpreting and administering collective bargaining agreements; experience managing utility operations functions; knowledge of collective bargaining agreements and negotiation methods. Please review the associated job description for more information. Temporary student positions within the utility are available during the 2021 summer months to provide assistance in various areas at the PUD.  A limited number of office and/or outside labor positions will be available.  

Position: Temporary Student Office and Operations Helpers

Status:  Temporary, full-time, non-exempt, represented positions

(Not to exceed four (4) months in calendar year)

Closing Date:  March 31, 2021

Requirements:

To qualify, students must be 18 years of age, be enrolled in a full-time academic, technical or vocational undergraduate program and be attending the program the academic year immediately following summer employment.  Preference will be given to students who have completed at least one (1) year of college/vocational education.

Students are hired to fill positions covered by collective bargaining agreements with I.B.E.W. Local No. 77.  Upon completing enrollment forms, monthly union dues will be deducted and forwarded to the union.

Student employees are not eligible for fringe benefits; nor do they accrue seniority.  Student employees will accrue Paid Sick Leave beginning at the start of employment in accordance with the District’s Paid and Other Leave policy.  By nature of the definition of an eligible position, membership in the Washington State Retirement System will not apply to student employees.
