The Grays Harbor Public Utility District has released the following statement on concerns with disruptions to supply chains and shortages in materials as they relate to utility projects:

“Grays Harbor PUD has been experiencing challenges with supply chain and material shortages.  Strong demand, labor shortages, transportation bottlenecks and raw material constraints are causing concern about being able to meet construction timelines for electrical and fiber optic projects.  As we address these concerns, your PUD is working to maintain supply levels in an effort to best meet customer needs and maintain strong positions on emergency and storm response inventories.

“We have all seen the impacts of the supply chain problems in many aspects of our lives.  The utility market has seen the most significant impact on electrical material supplies with lead times for some materials increasing over 100% in the last two years.  For example, transformers typically had a 16 week delivery time and now are in excess of 100 weeks.

“We appreciate our customers patience and understanding, and will do our best to meet our their needs, however many of these delays are beyond our control.  We will continue to be transparent and forthcoming in regards to these challenges and work closely with our customers and suppliers to work through these difficult times together.”
